Madalena is a Consultant within the Economics and Finance team at IMC Worldwide. During her time at IMC, Madalena has been working on economic and financial appraisals, multicriteria evaluations and Cost-Benefit Analyses, with a focus on Climate Resilient Investment Plans for the road sector. Madalena has conducted Cost-Benefit Analyses for intervention options for the road transport sector in Saint Lucia and Guyana, and is currently working on another CBA for roads affected by landslides in the Sylhet and Chattogram provinces of Bangladesh for a World Bank project, plus working as a Junior Economist on a post-compact evaluation of a road rehabilitation project by MCC in Mozambique. Her work also involves bid management and project planning. Further, Madalena is responsible for the communication activities of the Economics and Finance team.
Prior to joining IMC, Madalena worked in Marketing and Communications for a year, interned at the Portuguese National Energy Networks (REN), and conducted research on the Portuguese Labor Market for a partnership between Nova School of Business and Economics and the European Commission’s Portuguese Representation. She has strong quantitative skills, including advanced capability in Excel and Stata.
Madalena holds an MSc in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics in Portugal, with a major in Development and Trade. For her dissertation, she focused on gender and education, studying the intergenerational impact of mother’s schooling on children’s education in Malawi. She holds a PRINCE2 Foundation certificate in Project Management.
