IMC was recently contracted by the ADB to conduct an economic appraisal of the reconstruction of the Aktobe-Makat road in the western part of Kazakhstan. The existing road connects the country with Azerbaijan and Europe in the west, Russia in the north, and Turkmenistan in the south.
In addition, it is of strategic importance as it connects the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridors 1b and 6b, providing further access to China and South East Asia. In this context, and as a result of neglected and improper maintenance, IMC has conducted an economic and financial analysis and a fiscal impact and sustainability analysis using the WB HDM 4 suite. The results will guide ADB in their decision to financially support the road construction the upcoming years.
