Principal Consultant – Engineering

Permanent position, Full-Time, United Kingdom

We are looking for a Principal Consultant to join our engineering team.


In order to strengthen the engineering team in our Redhill office, we are looking for a Principal Consultant – Engineering. You will have an interest in, as well as experience in, working in international development. You will provide technical support on bids and project work and with the rest of the team, support the continued growth of the business stream.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Technical Director (Engineering) to provide technical engineering support to our projects worldwide
  • Assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and bids, in particular writing technical methodologies, drafting work plans and fee estimates
  • Proactively targeting new business opportunities and leading and contributing to high quality expressions of interest and proposals to win new business
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, planners and policy makers in the multidisciplinary teams
  • Undertake fee earning work as appropriate, including assignments to our overseas projects
  • Promote IMC’s engineering excellence at conferences, business briefings and meetings
  • Managing projects and leading relevant project tasks, including supervising the work of others together with financial and technical reporting, to ensure delivery to the high standards expected by IMC and our clients

Terms and Conditions

  • Hours of work: full-time working hours are 37.5 per week
  • Salary: £43,000 – £55,000 per annum depending on experience
  • Annual Leave: 5 weeks annual leave plus public holidays. The holiday year is 1st January – 31st December.
