Nigel Penfold was appointed to the Board in 2005 and is responsible for leading the Company’s business in Africa, the Caribbean and South America. He is a qualified Chartered Civil Engineer with over 30 years of experience of providing development assistance services to the infrastructure sector.
His knowledge encompasses infrastructure related projects, from feasibility studies, preliminary and final design, to preparation of contract documents, tender evaluation and construction supervision. In addition he has extensive experience of undertaking technical assistance and institutional capacity building projects for transport authorities in developing countries.
On graduating from University, Nigel joined East Sussex County Council as a Graduate Engineer. He undertook his first overseas assignment in 1982, with a long term appointment in Africa as a project manager. This was followed by numerous long and short term development assistance assignments covering sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean.
He has been a project director for over 40 individual overseas development assistance projects covering infrastructure engineering, institutional development and management consultancy assignments.
