Madalena has an MSc in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics in Portugal, with a major in Development and Trade.
For her dissertation, she focused on gender and education, studying the intergenerational impact of mother’s schooling on children’s years of education in Malawi.
Prior to joining IMC, Madalena worked in Marketing and Communications, as well as undertaking an internship for the portuguese national energy network, REN.
Madalena has strong quantitative skills, including advanced capability in Excel and Stata.
She is fluent in Portuguese and English, and has basic knowledge of French and Spanish.
Madalena has a strong interest in international development, particularly related to gender issues, climate change and sustainability, specifically from an economics perspective.
She has been involved in a range of voluntary work, including being part of the Green Nova Club, which works with sustainability issues within the University and local foodbanks.
