James is a versatile enterprise development and innovation expert with 15 years of experience working in non-profit, commercial and research environments in Southern and West Africa, South and South-East Asia and the UK.
With a focus on energy access and renewable energy sectors, he has both led and worked in teams across a broad range of projects including SME business incubation, inclusive business models, product innovation and sustainable value chains.
He has proven portfolio management skills and experience in the development, engineering and operation of grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy projects.
Prior to joining IMC, James has worked in a variety of roles including, Energy Sector Lead for an international NGO in Ghana, where he managed a team of ten staff and was responsible for a $1.5m/yr. portfolio of projects, business development, and the provision of technical assistance; Programme Manager of an energy access innovation facility in South Africa, providing SME support and technology commercialisation services; and consulting experience in energy and market evaluations, projects and proposals in both the UK and Southern Africa.
