Nepal: Evaluating USAID’S OFDA disaster risk reduction programming

As part of an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract (framework), the USAID’s Bureau of Policy, Planning and Learning (PPL) has contracted IMC to provide monitoring, evaluation and learning services to the disaster risk reduction programming which has been implemented in Nepal by the USAID’s Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).

OFDA has been supporting natural disaster preparedness and resilience in South Asia and specifically in Nepal for decades.

Through grants and cooperative agreements with non-governmental organisations, OFDA has been implementing DRR programmes in close coordination with both national and sub-national authorities of the Government of Nepal.

This evaluation focuses on two DRR ongoing projects which were funded by OFDA in Nepal between 2010 and 2016: the Programme for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) and Building Code Implementation Programme in Municipalities of Nepal (BCIPN).

IMC is helping OFDA to better understand how its programming contributed to improving disaster preparedness in Nepal as well as drawing lessons for its larger DRR portfolio worldwide.
